Mahayana Dance

Mahayana is a ritual art form of Kerala, usually performed in the temples. The episodes centering on Goddess Kali are depicted in this colorful folk dance. It is symbolic of the victory march of Goddess over the demon Darika. Mahayana has some similarity with that of Theyyam, in its steps and costumes.
