Mahavira Temple




Built by Raja Utpaldev, Mahavir temple at Osiyan is important historically and archaeologically. The ancient idol of Lord Mahavir has been installed by Acharya Ratnapradhasurishwalji. The temple has been built using the local red stones. It presents beautiful carved images of gods, goddess and princess. The carvings of the outside present the life story of Bhagvan Neminath. The workmanship on the arches at the entrance and exit of the circular path around the interior sanctum is beyond comparison. Osiyan, 55 km from Jodhpur, is on the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer road. Nearest railway station is Osiyan.
