Maharashtra Krishi Vidyapeeth, located at Rahuri, was established in 1968 as a State University. This agriculture university, renamed as Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV) after a great social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, is situated about 160 km from
Pune on Pune-Delhi highway in
Ahmednagar District.
Three agricultural colleges located at Dhule, Pune and Kolhapur offer B Sc (Agri) and M Sc (Agri) degree programs in agriculture. Agricultural Engineering College located at Rahuri offers B Tech (agri eng) and M Tech (agri eng) and P G Institute at Rahuri imparts training leading to M Sc (agri) and Ph D degrees in various branches of agriculture. Research programs are organized through four main research stations and 21 sub-stations located throughout the jurisdiction of the university.
The campus is about 10 km from Rahuri Railway Station and 110 km from Manmad Junction Railway Station.
