Maharao Madho Singh Museum is situated in the old palace in
Kota,
Rajasthan. Housed in the
Kota Fort, the museum is a rich repository of artistic items used by the Kota rulers. A gateway topped by rampant elephants welcomes one into the museum. The museum has a fine collection of Rajput miniature paintings of the Kota school, fine sculptures, frescoes and a good collection of weaponry. It also exhibits a wide collection of sculpture, epigraphs, coins, manuscripts, arms, costumes and beautiful paintings of Hadoti,
Jaipur and
Udaipur.
The Solid silver artifacts and fading sepia photographs of viceroys, maharajas, polo teams and Queen Victoria record the extravaganza of royalty, and there are some outstanding examples of Kota Kamba.
The Maharao Madho Singh Museum is open on all days except Fridays and government holidays.
