Maharani Palace, built around the 19th century, is situated in the City Palace complex in the heart of the city
Jaipur. The architecture of the palace resembles the Rajasthani and
Mughal art, and the ceiling of the palace is adorned with frescos which are well preserved. Maharani Palace is adorned with paintings, floral decorations and mirror walls in the traditional style.
Formerly a queen’s palace, it presently houses a museum which holds Rajput weaponry. It contains a good collection of Rajput weapons from the 15th century. The collection includes some of the ingenious and tricky weapons, which the
Rajputs were famous for. Some of the other exhibits are protective chain armours, pistols, guns, jewelled and ivory handled swords, belt sword, small and assorted cannons, poison tipped blades and gun powder pouches.
