Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, located in
Vadodara, was established by Maharaja Sayaji Rao III in AD 1882. In 1949, the university received the status of a residential university.
Courses are offered in the faculty of arts, commerce, education and psychology, fine arts, home science, journalism and communication, law, management studies, medicine, performing arts, science, social work, technology and engineering and polytechnic. It offers facilities for conducting researches in various fields.
The campus possesses many architecturally beautiful buildings and the library houses a rich collection of books. The central dome of the building of Faculty of Arts is 144 ft high and is the second tallest masonry dome in India.
