Mahabodhi Society is a Buddhist educational organization established in 1956 at Bangalore. It teaches about
Lord Buddha, and provides inspiration and facilities for bringing that teaching into action through spiritual, social and educational activities.
Its Bhikkhu Training Center provides training for teaching Dhamma, the 37 qualities leading to enlightenment, and meditation. The society also has a residential school, meditation center and a library. A full day meditation retreat is conducted on every first Sunday. There is also a Vishwa Maitri Stupa, a granite pillar enshrining a relic of Lord Buddha. The structural designs of the stupa depicts the fundamental teachings of Lord Buddha.
The society has branches in Mysore and Ladakh. Mahabodhi Arogya Hospital and Maha Bodhi World Peace Buddha Temple in Bangalore come under this society.
