Madwas lies en route to Majholi, about 19 km west of Maoli, in Sidhi District. Sidhi, the administrative headquarters, is about 45 km north-east.
According to historians, the descendants of the Baland kings - rulers of some areas in Koriya District before 1600 - had lived at Madwas for a long period.
