Madras War Cemetery, the final resting place of those who died during the Second World War, is located at
Chennai, the capital of the state of
Tamil Nadu.
Set up in 1952 by the Imperial War Graves Commission, now known as the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), the cemetery has 855 graves. Most of the graves were brought together from civil and cantonment cemeteries from different parts of India.
