Madras Christian Council of Social Service in
Chennai is a non-profit association based on Christian values. Since its inception in 1965, the organization stands for the promotion of human rights through education and upliftment of the poor especially the dalits (economically and socially backward communities of India). In collaboration with thirteen Christian churches and four other social service organizations, it conducts women development programs, women's leadership programs, community counseling programs, awareness camps about HIV/AIDS and screening camps.
Also, the Madras Christian Council of Social Service offers counseling to individuals and married partners and provides rehabilitation to women in distress. Temporary shelter is given for women during the period of crisis.
