Madhi Masjid is an ancient mosque located at
Mehrauli in
South Delhi District,
Delhi. Legend is that this mosque was built during the
Lodhi Dynasty and another says this building dates back to the
Mughal period. The architectural styles of the mosque have much resemblance with both the period. It is about 500 m south of the
Jamali Kamali Mosque.
Madhi Masjid is designed as a miniature fort with thick walls and corner turrets. The west wall is flanked by covered halls which give it an appearance of an open wall mosque and a covered mosque. The main entrance is built in grey stone with two balconies like the Hindu style. An artificial terrace is another striking feature of this monument.
From the courtyard of this mosque, one gets a magnificent view of the Qutab Minar.
Madhi Masjid can be easily approached from Connaught Place.
