Machetar, a scenic village, is situated near
Kuarsi in
Chamba District. It lies at an altitude of about 1,800 m above sea level, on the
Dharamsala -
Chamba trek route in Ravi Valley. Machetar is surrounded by barley fields and lush green forests. The entire region offers fascinating views of
the Pir Panjal,
the Manimahesh Kailash and
the Dhauladhar peaks.
Machetar is an ideal base for trekking and mountaineering. Base camps are available. Nearby tourist destinations are Chatru Parao, Chamba, Lahesh Cave, Brahmaur, Mcleod Ganj, Hardsar and Holi.
Nearest airport is Gaggal Airport. Nearest railway station is at Pathankot.
