Maasi Magam Festival is one of the major festivals celebrated just north of the fishing village at Kurichikuppam, in
Pondicherry District. During the festival divinities from about 38 temples are brought in a procession to Pondicherry and are taken around the town with an orchestral support called
Nadaswaram. After the procession, the images of
Sudarshana Chakra and the
Trishul are chosen for ablutions in the sea.
