M V Akbar is a regular passenger ship which operates between
Port Blair, and
Chennai (1190 km),
Kolkata (1255 km) and
Visakhapatnam (1200 km). It is run by the Shipping Corporation of India Limited. There are two sailings in a month, each from Kolkata and Chennai to Port Blair and vice versa. The ship sails between Port Blair and Visakhapatnam, once in every 3 months. The voyage takes about 3/4 days. The ship has a capacity to carry 1,560 passengers.
M V Akbar offers different classes of accommodation, including deluxe, bunk, first class cabin, AC dormitory and ordinary bunk.
