Lolark Shasthi is celebrated at
Lolark Kund in
Varanasi,
Uttar Pradesh. This festival is celebrated on the sixth day of the bright half of Bhadrapad (a month in the
North Indian Hindu Calendar), corresponding to the later half of August or early September. Lolark Kund literally means the 'tank of the trembling Sun' denoting the wavering image of the Sun God in the water of the tank. The festival is dedicated to the worship of
Surya, the Sun God. A large number of devotees gather at the Lolark Kund to bathe in its waters and worship Sun.
