Lingdum Monastery

Pal Zurmang Kagyud Monastery



Lingdum Monastery, also known as Pal Zurmang Kagyud Monastery, is situated at Lingdum on the Rumtek-Ranka-Gangtok road, which is almost 45 minutes drive from Gangtok. This monastery was built in Tibetan monastic architecture in 1998 by the Zurmang Gharwang Rimpoche, the XII incarnation of Zurmang Gharwang. A 15 m high brass statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, flanked by 10 m high statues of Guru Rimpoche and the 16th Karmapa, is enshrined in the Gompa. The monastery is 20 km from Gangtok.
