Lingambudi Lake is located at Ramakrishna Nagar, about 7 km from
Mysore, in
Karnataka. Spread over an area of 260 acres, it is the biggest and the oldest lake in Mysore.
Built in 1828 by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III, the lake is renowned for its wide species of birds and bio-diversity. Nearly 250 species of birds visit the lake during seasons including a few endangered species such as spot-billed pelican, Indian darter, pin tailed duck and
shoveler.
A unique feature of the lake is the Herbal Park which is of great use to the research students and scholars. There are shelters known as the ‘Pergolla', built for the purpose of relaxing.
To maintain the quiet atmosphere for migratory birds, boating and other recreational activities are not allowed at the lake.
