Lenyadri Girijatmaka Temple




Lenyadri Girijatmaka Temple is a cave temple located on the Lenyadri Hill, in Pune District of Maharashtra. It can be approached by a flight of 302 steps.

This south facing temple is dedicated to Girijatmaka Ganesh. The idol is carved out of a single rock.

The temple has an impressive sabhamandap which is 50 ft long and 60 ft wide. Sabhamandap leads one into an inner chamber supported by six stone pillars. The sanctum is noted for a seven feet high ceiling. The temple also has 18 small rooms for meditation.

Eighteen Buddhist caves and a tank situated on the hills are other points worth visiting.
