Lekhapani is a small town situated in the foothills of Patkai Hills near
Assam -
Arunachal Pradesh border. This place is mostly inhabited by Tangsa Naga tribes. The historic Stilwell Road starts from here which connects Jairampur, Arunachal Pradesh, to different towns of Burma and China.
National Highway 38 connects Lekhapani with
Makum (54 km) and Ledo (20 km).
Lekhapani is 70 km from Tinsukia, the administrative headquarters of Tinsukia District in Assam. The village has its own railhead which is the nearest Indian railhead to Myanmar.
