Lasya College of Music and Dance is situated at
Pilathara, between
Taliparamba and
Payyanur in
Kannur District. Established in 1993, it is the only institute of its kind in
Kerala. Lasya has a unique advantage of combining the
gurukul style of instruction and the pedagogical methods of modern university departments.
Affiliated to the IKS University of Khairagarh (in Chattisgarh), the college offers BA degree and diploma in bharatanatyam, mridangam and carnatic music. Lasya has a well equipped library, periodic work shops and hostel facilities.
