Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary




Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is located Nagaon District of Assam. It is about 25 km from Nagaon and is located on the southern bank of Brahmaputra River.

Covering an area of 70 sq km, the sanctuary is mainly the home of great Indian one horned rhinoceros. Other animals include tiger, leopard, Asiatic buffalo, wild boar, civet cat, leopard cat and hog deer. Various species of birds and reptiles are also found.

November to March is the ideal time to visit.

Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is about 40 km downstream from Kaziranga and is close to Bura-Chapori and Orang wildlife sanctuaries.
