Lake Sone




Sone is the largest freshwater tectonic lake of Assam with an area of 34.58 sq km. It has 12.5 km of length, 3.9 km of breadth and shoreline about 35.4 km. This lake is continuously fed by the major inlet Singla, which originates from the Mizo Hills and after pass through a tortuous course of over 60 km, it enters Lake Sone.

The major outlet, river Kachua, drains the lake water into the river Kushiara. The fish community of the lake is diverse with 70 species of different size and classes.
