Lahauli is a native dance of
Lahaul and Spiti District in
Himachal Pradesh. It is performed during special ceremonies.
The dancers move in circles while performing this dance. They take simple yet big steps and occasionally interlock their hands. They wear long gowns, with embroidery on the borders and jackets over them. The ornaments are made of beads and stones.
The Lahauli dance is accompanied by traditional songs and music produced by the ‘surna’ (oboe) and the ‘daman’ (drum).
