Lad Khan Temple is situated at
Aihole in Hungund Taluk of
Bagalkot District. It is the oldest temple which dates back to the 5th century. Initially, it was a royal assembly hall and marriage mandapa (hall). Then a Muslim official called Lad Khan used it as his residence and since then it came to be known by its present name. The main temple has another shrine-like
vimana on its roof.
Aihole is connected by road to other places such as Pattadakal (17 km), Badami (46 km) and Bangalore (438 km). The nearest railway station is at Bagalkot.
