Lachipora Sanctuary is located 83 km west of
Srinagar, on the north bank of the
Jhelum River, in
Baramulla District of
Jammu and Kashmir. Spread over an area of 70 sq km, this sanctuary is home to a large variety of flora and fauna.
Lachipora Sanctuary is covered by coniferous forests including cedar, blue pine, silver fir and spruce. This tranquil sanctuary is the habitat of rhesus macaque, common languor, leopard, Himalayan black bear, brown bear and Himalayan musk deer.
Srinagar Airport and Jammu Tawi Railway Station are the nearest major access points.
