L.R.S Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases is an autonomous institute located in
New Delhi. Training, teaching, and research facilities are provided. It is administered by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, government of India.
The main objectives include prevention, control and treatment of tuberculosis and allied diseases, promotion of National Tuberculosis Control Program in the country and formation of strategies which are socially acceptable and economically feasible. Post-graduate training for diplomate of the national board in respiratory diseases is the main course conducted. Continuing Medical Education program (CME) on diagnosis and management of tuberculosis and other related diseases is organized for the medical graduates from other countries. Training is imparted in the management of tuberculosis to the nursing students from Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing and the trainee health visitors from New Delhi TB Center every year.
The institute houses a 520-bedded hospital with modern facilties. Medical care services and laboratory facilties are provided for the patients. For conducting various types of lung surgery, a thoracic surgical center is also available.
