Kuttalam




Kuttalam, also spelt as Kutralam, is a town in the north-western region of Nagapattinam District in Tamil Nadu. This picturesque place lies close to Thanjavur District border and is around 13 km west of Mayiladuthurai. The place has an Omkareswarar Temple which dates back to Kulottunga III (Chola emperor during the period 1178-1216). Cauvery River has its course through Kuttalam.

Just 4 km from here is Tirumanancheri, a highly revered shrine. Aduthurai, famous for the Ten Kurangaaduturai Temple, is another worth visiting spot at about 10 km south. Thiruindhaloor Temple, Vaitheeswaran Kovil and Amritaghateswarar Temple are nearby. Thiruppanandal, Elandangudi, Thiruindhaloor and Villiyanallur are the nearby places.

Kutralam Railway Station is on the Mayiladuthurai-Kumbakonam railway line. Nearest airport is Tiruchirapalli Airport.
