Kushalnagar




Kushalnagar, 34 km from Madikeri, is located at Somwarpet Taluk in Kodagu District of Karnataka. The town is a main commercial center of Kodagu and Mysore districts.

The place was named ‘Kushala Nagara’ by Hyder Ali, the erstwhile ruler of Mysore. The place also has another name ‘Frazer Town’ after the chief commissioner of Kodagu, Colonel Frazer. There is a fort built by Tipu Sultan on the banks of Cauvery River. A bridge across the river was built in 1848 by the British.

Sera Monastery, Cauvery Nisarga Dhama, Dubare forests and Harangi Dam are the nearby attractions. The nearest railway station is at Mysore.
