Kurunthamalai is located about 25 km from Coimbatore. The place is famous for the Arulmigu Kulanthai Velayuthaswamy Temple.
It is a hilly place covered with kurunda trees and hence the name Kurunthamalai. It is believed that Thiru Agasthiya Munivar got manthra upadesham (divine wisdom) from Lord Muruga here.
