Kurisumala

Kurisumala, also called Southern Kurisumala, is a famous Christian pilgrim center on the Western Ghats, in Thiruvananthapuram District. It is about 40 km from Thiruvananthapuram and around 30 km from Nagercoil.

The place derived its name from a big cross, which is positioned on the hill, around 3000 ft above sea level. On the way to top, one would come across 13 other small crosses.

During the holy week in March/April, thousands of devotees from Kerala and Tamil Nadu climb the holy hill. Special holy masses, prayers, religious discourses and public meetings are held during the period.

The nearest railway station is at Nagercoil and Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest airport.
