Kunrattur, also called Tirunageswaram, is located near
Chennai, at a distance of 8 km from
Pallavaram in
Tiruvallur District. It is famous as the birthplace of the poet Sekkizhar who composed the epic work Periya Puranam.
Nageswarar temple, Kandaswamy temple, Lord Vishnu temple with sculptures of Ram and Hanuman, and a hill shrine dedicated to Lord Muruga are the temples in Kunrattur.
Skanda Shashti in the month of Aippasi (mid October - mid November) and Padi Utsavam in the month of Vaikasi (mid May - mid June) are the main festivals celebrated there.
