Started in 1985, Kunjban is a Chottanagpuri Folk Music and Dance Training Center in
Ranchi,
Jharkhand. Kunjban's Department of Theater is a leader in the field of educational theater movement and holds theater workshops throughout the region.
The main goal of the center is to preserve and promote the tribal and regional cultures of Chhotanagpur and their rich and diverse music and dance traditions.
The Kunjban troupe performs tribal dance and music forms throughout the Jharkhand concentrating on social issues such as education, disability awareness, AIDS awareness, drugs and alcohol abuse, and religious strife and communalism.
The center also focuses on Nagpuri music and dance forms such as Paika, Janani Jhumar, Mardana Jhumar, Damkach, Phagua, Ghora Nach and Chhau.
