Kunihar, about 5 km from Sabathu, is on the Bilaspur-Kalka road, in Solan District. It is in the tranquil Kunihar Valley, and is around 8 km from Hat Koti and 10 km west of Jubbar Hati. About 20 km south-east lies Solan, the headquarters of the district. The Ganibhar River flows through this town.
Chandigarh Airport is the nearest airport and Solan Railway Station is the closest important railway station. Nalagarh-Shimla state highway also passes through Kunihar.
