Kunda is a scenic spot in
Chatra District of
Jharkhand.
The center of attraction is the ruins of ancient Kunda Palace, whose southern portion leads to a cave. It was built during the 18th century. The cave is washed by a shallow stream.
The cave is hollow, and the entrance of the cave is so narrow that one need to crouch his body to enter it. A central hall, which is used as resting place by visitors, is an attractive feature. Some inscriptions can be found here. The passage that directs to the hall is completely dark.
Other interesting features are small hollows, which are connected with central hall. One of the hollows has a huge Shivling, and the other one is believed to have been used as sleeping room by a hermit, who lived here fifty years ago.
People flock here during the month of Phalgun to offer holy water to Lord Shiva.
