The town of Kumar is in the north-eastern part of Chamba District, in Himachal Pradesh. It is on the banks of the Chandrabhaga River, in Pangi Valley. Killar, a picnic spot, is roughly 4 km north and Sach is about 6 km south.
Sach Pass, at an altitude of 4428 m, is within a short drive. Dharwas, a prominent place famed for its natural spring of mineral water, is around 12 km away, on the Himachal Pradesh-Jammu and Kashmir border.
