Kottapatnam is a historical town in the southern part of
Nellore District in
Andhra Pradesh. Close to coast of
Bay of Bengal, it was a major cultural and trade center of south India in the pre-Christian era. Kottapatnam seaport played a vital role in the trade with the south-east Asian countries. Even today, one can see the remnants of the ancient seaport.
Kottapatnam is 39 km south-east of Nellore. Tirupati Airport is the nearest airport. Gudur Junction Railway Station is the nearest major railhead.
