Kottakavu Ferona Church is a highly revered shrine located at
Paravur, a small town in
Ernakulam District of
Kerala.
The history of the church dates back to the time of St Thomas. Legends have it that, a
Namboothiri who was awestruck when St Thomas performed a miracle near his temple, converted his temple to this church and became a Christian himself. Even now one can see the remains of the old temple near the adjoining pool.
Paravur is a 25 minute drive from
Cochin International Airport and 24 km from
Kochi. Frequent buses are available from
Kodungallur to Paravur.
