Kothair Nag

Kothair Nag, a circular spring, is situated about 10 km from Achhabal garden, Anantnag District. Its radius is about 5 m, surrounded by pond weeds. There are two small temples, which seem to be contemporaneous with the stone wall of the spring. The whole area is called Kothair Wan (Kothair forest). The medicinal quality of the water of the spring must have attracted the people from the various parts of the country, hence it is also called Papashudan Nag (Sin cleansing spring). This place is also rich in iron mines. Many legends are associated with this tank of the spring, constructed by a Raja of the Deccan named Matsakund.
