Kosala
An ancient Indian state
Kosala was an ancient Indian state existed in the region of modern Oudh. It was broadly divided into North and South Kosala. At the time of Buddha, Prasenajith was the ruler of Kosala. He was educated at Taxila and was a scholarly person. At the age of 80, he was dethroned by his son Vidudabha. The king died outside the gates of his capital. Under Vidudabha Kosala saw a fall and was ultimately merged with Magadha.
