Koppulingeswara Swamy Aalayam is a famous Shiva temple situated 3 km from Kothapet in
West Godavari District. Apart from the major
shivling, this temple has beautiful images of numerous deities.
Sage Agastya is believed to be associated with this temple. Folklore has it that a priest from this shivalaya was a great learner and a devotee of Lord Shiva. Legend is that the king fulfilled his desire of seeing the lord because of the devotional activities and sincere services of the priest of this temple. The gratified king gave many valuables to the priest, which is being enjoyed by the priests of the Koppulingeswara Swamy Aalayam even today.
