Kondhs are a tribal community residing in
Orissa and
Andhra Pradesh. Their name is derived from the Telugu word ‘Kontha,’ which means hill. They are farmers and hunters were once infamous as they practiced human sacrifices.
Kondhs are sub-divided into three groups namely, Desia Kondh, Kutia Kondh and Dongaria Kondh.
