Koncheswar Mahadev Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Konch, in Gaya District of Bihar. It is located about 29 km from Gaya, on the Gaya-Daudnagar road. This ancient temple is entirely made of bricks which reminisces the Mahabodhi Temple at Bodhgaya, built by Emperor Ashoka over 2300 years ago.
Koncheswar Mahadev Temple enshrines Lord Shiva as the presiding deity. Shiva is worshipped here in the form of a Shivling. The statues of Haragauri and the Ashta Saktis are also installed in the temple. The remarkable feature of the temple is a panel sculpture of the Dashavatar, the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
The annual Mahashivaratri celebrations attract thousands of devotees from far and near. Special pujas is offered on Mahashivaratri and other auspicious days to propitiate Lord Shiva.
