Kolhambika Temple is a small temple situated about 30 km from Nasik, near the famous Trimbakeshwar Temple in Trimbak village. Dedicated to Goddess
Parvati, this temple houses the images of Goddess Kolhambika. According to myth, Kolhasur, a demon, started gulping down all the water of the
Ganges which was flowing in response to the prayer of Gautama. Gautama desperately appealed to Parvati to rescue the Ganges. After a brief war, the Goddess beheaded the demon. It is believed that the head uttered the word ‘Shiva’ three times and Parvati came to know that Kolhasur was a devotee of
Lord Shiva. On the humble request of Kolhasur, Goddess Parvati decided to stay at the place where the present temple of Kolhambika is located.
