Kok Borok is the language used in the region of
Assam and
Tripura. It is a Baric language that belongs to the Tibeto-Burman language family. The word 'Kok Borok' means 'language people'.
The tribes namely Jamatia, Noatia, Riang and Halam use it as their native language. This language is broadly used in writing letters, demonstrating magic and preparing lists of indigenous medicine.
The different names of Kok Borok are Kak Barak, Kok Barak, Mrung, Tipura, Tripuri and Usipi. Debbarma, Riang and Halam are the three main dialects of this language. Lack of usage is now pushing this language to the verge of extinction.
