Kodandarama Temple

Kodandarama Temple stands to the south-east of Hiremagalur. The temple seems to have been constructed in three stages. The whole temple is a blend of Hoysala and Dravidian styles of architecture. The outer walls of the garbh griha and vestibule are raised on a square basement which consists of six cornices. The outer walls of the navagraha shrine and Mukhamandapa are built of brick and mortar. In the garbh griha, there are images of Kodandarama, Sita and Lakshman. Lord Ram and Lakshaman both hold arrows in their right hands and strung bows in their left hands. There are small shrines containing the figures of Yoganarasimha, Vedanta Deshika, Sugriva, Kalinga, Mardhana, Madhava, Ramanujacharya, and some Alwars. There are also figures of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Hanuman, Lord Garuda and Lord Ganesh. The temple conducts a festival every year during the months of February and March.
