The distinctive Kodagu Cuisine had its origin from the Kodavas, the descendants of Greek warriors who inhabit an area called Kodagu, in the hills near present-day Mysore. The Kodavas have a very rich cuisine. The staple food is rice and an amazing range of dishes are prepared from it. Kodavas prepare delicious dishes with their favorite ingredients such as pork, mushrooms, chicken, bamboo-shoots, rice and banana. They use abundant curry leaves, coconut and chilis.
