Kodaganallur village is situated 14 km from
Tirunelveli city, on the banks of
Tamiraparani River in
Tirunelveli District,
Tamil Nadu. The village, formerly known as Kodanur, has some ancient temples of the 12th century. It is the birthplace of eminent persons such as Sundara Ganapadigal (traditional Vedic expert), Sangita Vidwan Subbiah Bhagavatar (singer), and Sri Sundara Swamigal (saint).
The place has the only Sankara mutt (spiritual center) in Tamil Nadu, established by the Sringeri Mutt of Karnataka centuries ago. Sri Brihanmadhava Vishnu Temple, Sri Abhimuktewara Shiva Temple, and Sri Kailasanatha Temple are worth visiting.
