Kizhthali Shiva Temple is located at Kizhthali near
Kodungallur in
Thrissur District. It is one among the four Tali temples in Kodungallur. The presiding deity of the temple is
Lord Shiva in the form of Kirathamoorthi. According to legend, the deity was installed by
Parashuram.
The Kizhthali temple is an ancient shrine and dates back to the 8th century. The specialty of the temple is the huge size of the idol. The priest performs the puja offerings by standing. Belief has it that the oil, which is offered to the God, is a good cure for body pains. Lamps lighted with oil or ghee are offered at the steps of the shrine in order to gain good marital relations.
This Shiva temple can be easily approached as it is in the Kodungallur-
Paravur route.
