Established on 1973, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology was founded in memory of Mr. Rafi Ahmed Kidwai. The Institute attained the status of an autonomous institution in 1980 and became one of the 11 regional cancer centers (RCC) in India.
The Institute offers a wide range of cancer research and provides modern facilities for cancer diagnosis, treatment, palliation and rehabilitation. The 429 bedded hospital attached has a wide range of sophisticated diagnostic, treatment and research equipments such as linear accelerator, whole body spiral CT scanner, mammography, lymphangiography, ultra-sonography equipments, gamma camera, blood cell separator, video endoscopes, and CCX-100 autoanalyser. The institute offers services such as curative, palliative and reconstructive surgery, radiation therapies, chemotherapy, blood transfusion and immunohematology services, and palliative care.
The center conducts courses such as M.Ch (Surgical Oncology), Diploma in Medical Oncology, PG Diploma in Nuclear Medicine, Diploma in Radiation Physics, B.Sc. in Laboratory/Radiotherapy/Radio diagnosis. The institute prints and publishes journals such as the Oncoscope Bulletin and other scientific publications.
