The large temple of Kichakeshwari at
Khiching, dating back to the 7th or 8th century, is one of the few temples of its kind in India. The present temple was built in 1925 by Raja Purnachandra Bhanja Deo from the ruins of an earlier temple. This 22m high structure is made of chlorite stone slabs. The museum in its precincts displays important historical specimens of sculpture and art.
Khiching is at a distance of 45 km from Joshipur, 27 km from
Keonjhar, and 350 km from
Bhubaneswar. A good network of roads connects Khiching to other parts of the state.
